Rodolfo realizes he likes Mimi and tries to help her after she nearly faints. They fall in love. This opera is a tragedy, so Mimi has tuberculosis and Rodolfo can't afford to take care of her. She becomes deadly sick and begins coughing violently. In the finale's death scene, Mimi and Rodolfo are reunited, but she is laying in her death bed drops. Mimi drops her hand muffs and dies. Rodolfo runs to her and screams her name “MIMI!” and begins sobbing at her death.
