Introduction from the artist
What’s goin on, I’m JP…Swing was really an in the moment type of song. I was at my cousins house where I always go to cook up some heat. I stumbled across that chord progression in Output’s ‘Arcade’ VST; immediately got inspired and mapped out some bouncy playful drums. I finished the beat and got to recording, all off the top, no writing. I wanted to keep it a sort of light and playful expression of my heart behind the music and incorporating how my life changes (hence swing) contribute to my work ethic / motivation in music. Smino and J. Coke have been huge influences in how to act and articulate myself, not only as an artist but as a person. So when it comes to my music, Swing especially, I try to put the meaning INTO it. It creates a sense of connection to my work that transcends what it means to me, because it is me.
